Retro-Computing again

OSTBLOG is an interesting weblog experiment: They document and preserve pieces of everyday culture in East Germany (the GDR). In a recent entry, an introduction to programming in BASIC was posted. If you can read German, read the description of the FOR-TO-NEXT loop. Computer culture in the GDR was always more hardcore than in the West, due to the obvious shortage of usable hardware. The GDR's own homecomputer line KC ("Kleincomputer") by VEB Robotron still sells well on eBay today, however. Posted by jens at August 29, 2003 09:20 PM | TrackBack

Vielen Dank für die Erwähnung in Deinem interessanten weblog.
Sicher war es, aufgrund des westlichen Embargos, sehr viel schwieriger, im Osten "usable hardware" zu bekommen. Der Stand der Computertechnik war allerdings vergleichbar. Der KC/3, bzw. KC/4 war DOS-fähig (es gab ein DDR-DOS, von Geheimdiensten geklaut) und war quasi ein 286er PC.
Viel weiter war man zur Wende im Westen auch nicht.
Aber das nur am Rande. Viel Erfolg weiterhin für Deine Seite.

PS: Ich besitze noch drei andere Artikel, ähnlich dem geposteten, über Basic in der "FF dabei".
Die möchte ich demnächst veröffentlichen, suche aber noch nach Informationen über die Sendereihe auf DT64, wo man Programme übers Radio aufnehmen konnte. Falls Du da helfen kannst...
